Web-apps sometimes have to do long-winded, non-interactive crunching operations. It's a good idea to give the user some feedback during the performance, otherwise they get scared and do unhelpful things, such as pushing buttons at random, or rebooting. This class displays a window which provides such support. The 'H' on the name serves to distinguish it from javax.swing.ProgressMonitor, a somewhat different animal.

An HProgressMonitor.

Parameters:

titlekey - The title of the monitor window. It will be washed through MsgHelper.xlat for I18N.

Method Detail

display

public void display()

Show the monitor. Call this before the first update. Call dispose when you've finished with the monitor.

update

public void update(java.lang.String status)

Update the message display. Initially the dialog area will be filled with garbage; apps should call this promptly after creating it. This should not be called from the Swing dispatch thread. Webapps should have no problem obeying this rule; swing-based apps will have to take a little more care, but shouldn't be running long-winded crunch jobs in the dispatch thread in any case.
